SUCCESS.
It's
something that all UNA athletes and coaches strive to attain.
Achieving success requires many things including hard work,
sacrifice, and financial support. This financial support has
historically come from both the University and friends outside
the institution.
As needs within the
University grow and funding becomes uncertain, more of the monies
needed to sustain UNA's athletic success must come from external
sources. |
|
The Sportsman's Club, UNA's athletic support
organization, has assumed the responsibility to coordinate
solicitation efforts for the entire athletic program.
Gifts to the Sportsman's Club provide monies for scholarships, and
other areas of need within the athletic program. The Sportsman's
Club will be a vital source of future financial support for UNA
athletics. The Sportsman's Club Board of Directors extends an
invitation to all friends of UNA athletics to join the organization
and lend their support to the athletes and coaches of UNA. For
further information, contact a board member or the UNA athletic
department by calling (256) 765-4185.
Do my contributions
and involvement in Lion Athletics make a difference ?
The annual operating
budget of the UNA athletic program is $3.1 million. Of that figure,
approximately 1.1 million is dedicated to scholarships. The
Sportsman’s Club has provided monies to increase scholarship
opportunities, aid for fifth year scholarships, and book scholarship
aid. Funds have also been used to help renovate athletic facilities
and support operational expenses.
The University
enthusiastically and loyally supports the Lion Athletic program.
However additional financial assistance is mandatory due to the
uncertainty of state funding for institutions of higher education.
The UNA athletic
program requires external funds to continue to successfully compete
at its present national level as well as to increase opportunities
for outstanding student-athletes to attend the University,
participate in athletics and earn a degree.
Your financial
contributions are an investment in Lion Athletics, which is also an
investment in our community and our region.
The future success of
UNA and Lion Athletics will be positively impacted by the financial
support provided through the Sportsman’s Club.
What
is the UNA Sportsman’s Club ?
The UNA Sportsman’s
Club is a 501-C-3 nonprofit organization dedicated solely to support
Lion Athletics by providing scholarship and operational financial
assistance. Our goal is to assist Lion Athletics to retain its
position as the premier athletic program in the Gulf South
Conference and one of the most competitive and respected in the NCAA
Division II. Through careful planning and leadership from community
leaders, alumni and friends, the Sportsman’s Club will help
establish a firm financial foundation for the growth and continued
success of all athletic programs at the University of North Alabama.
