UNA got all the
offense it would need in the third inning
when Jarret Shepherd walked, Josh Phillips
singled and both scored on a two-run single
by Matt Horton. UNA added an insurance run
in the eighth when Shepherd singled and
scored on a double by Phillips.
West Florida's
biggest threat came in the sixth when
Walters hit two batters and walked one to
load the bases with one out. He then got UWF
catcher Justin Wood to ground into an
inning-ending double play.
Walters (4-2),
allowed just two hits in seven innings,
while walking two and striking out one.
Newberry, making his sixth pitching
appearance of the season, remained perfect,
allowing no runs in two innings. Newberry
has now pitched 6 2/3 innings without
allowing a run and recorded his first save
Sunday.
Phillips led
UNA with two hits.
