FLORENCE, Ala.
– Jordan West and Frank Dougherty
combined to limit Martin Methodist to six
hits and North Alabama scored 13 runs on 12
hits to down the Red Hawks 13-3.
UNA led 5-3
after four innings but the Lions got two
runs on the board in the fifth and added six
more in the sixth. The game was stopped
after Martin Methodist hit in the seventh
inning due to UNA’s 10-run lead.
Dougherty, now
2-1, got the win with 3 2/3 innings of work.
He allowed no runs on three hits and
struckout three. West started the game and
allowed three runs on three hits before
being pulled in the fourth inning.
Ross Parker led
the Lions at the plate, going 3-for-3 with
three runs scored and an RBI. Josh Phillips
and Matt Horton had two hits each for the
Lions.
UNA is now
31-19-1 overall entering its final
regular-season series Saturday and Sunday at
Alabama-Huntsville. UNA is currently fifth
in the Gulf South Conference East Division
but has a chance to move into one of the top
four spots and qualify for the league’s
post- season tournament with a strong series
against the Chargers.
