HUNTSVILLE, Ala.
-- The University of North Alabama baseball
team suffered a season- ending 4-3 loss at
Alabama-Huntsville Sunday, with the defeat
eliminating the Lions from a possible berth
in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
UNA, 32-21-1
overall, finished 7-11 in the GSC East
Division for fifth place. The top four teams
from each division advance to the GSC
Tournament.
UNA jumped out
to an early lead with a run in the second
inning but UAH quickly answered with two
runs of its own in the bottom of the second.
Each team added two more runs but the Lions
could never catch the Chargers.
Justin Walters
took the loss for UNA in seven innings of
work. He allowed four runs on seven hits
with two strikeouts. UNA was held to just
five hits on offense - with one hit each
from five different players.
The 2007 season
marks UNA's 24th consecutive winning season
since Mike Lane became head coach in 1984.
