LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- West Alabama scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to win the opener 4-3 and North Alabama scored five runs in the top of the seventh to win the nightcap 8-6 Saturday as the Lions and Tigers split a Gulf South Conference double-header.

UNA led the opener 3-2 in the sixth before West Alabama tied the game in the bottom of the frame. It remained tied until the bottom of the ninth when the Tigers pushed a run across against UNA reliever Ryan Miller (6-2).

UNA trailed 5-3 in the second game of the evening double-header but scored five runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-5 lead. Matt Vandenheuvel (3-3) then gave way to Miller in relief. Miller walked four batters, including walking in a run, but finally got the Tigers Jeremy Finney to fly out to eft to end the game and record his fourth save of the season.

UNA is now 26-18 overall and 6-8 in the GSC. The Lions remain in fourth place in the league standings after Alabama-Huntsville swept West Georgia. UAH is now 5-9 in league play and West Georgia is 4-9.

West Alabama is now 36-9 and 9-5.
