LIVINGSTON, Ala.
-- An 8-5 loss Sunday at West Alabama has
dropped the University of North Alabama
baseball team into a tie for fourth place in
the Gulf South Conference East Division with
one three-game series to play.
UNA trailed 4-0
early before Josh Graham blasted a three-run
homer in the fourth to get the Lions back in
the game. The Tigers added four more runs in
the sixth for an 8-3 lead, and single runs
by UNA in the seventh and eighth innings
weren't enough.
The Lions are
now 26-19 overall and 6-9 in the GSC. North
Alabama is tied with Alabama-Huntsville for
the fourth and final East Division spot in
the GSC Tournament and the Lions and
Chargers meet this Saturday and Sunday in
Florence in a three-game series.
Brennen
Auerbach (4-3) took the loss in just two
innings of work as he allowed three runs on
two hits and walked four. Jeff Schafer
allowed three runs in 3 1/3 innings and Todd
Bryan allowed two runs in 1/3 of an inning.
Matt
Vandenheuvel pitched the final 2 1/3 innings
and allowed no runs on two hits.
Collin Murphy,
Jeffery Ritter and Trey Pollard had two hits
each for UNA.
The Lions host
Union on Wednesday in a double-header.
