FLORENCE
-- University of North Alabama senior second
baseman Matt Horton of Cleveland, Ala., has
been selected Gulf South Conference East
Division Player of the Week for his efforts
in the Lions' six baseball games last week.
Horton went
12-for-22 at the plate for a .545 batting
average. He scored 10 runs and drove in
seven more, while walking twice, laying down
two sacrifices and stealing a base. He had a
.615 on-base percentage and had three extra
base hits with a double, a triple and a home
run.
Horton's
two-run homer against Alabama accounted for
UNA's only two runs of the game.
It marks the
third time this season that UNA has had the
East Division Player of the Week with
Jeffery Ritter having already been honored
twice.
