MAGNOLIA, Ark.
-- The University of
North Alabama baseball
team took an early lead
Sunday but came out on
the short end of a 5-1
score in the series
finale at Southern
Arkansas. UNA split a
double-header with the
Muleriders on Saturday
and took a 1-0 lead in
the finale when Ross
Parker got a leadoff
walk and later scored on
a Chase Porch RBI
single. That would be
all the offense the
Lions could manage,
however, as SAU scored a
run to tie the game in
the bottom of the first,
added three more in the
fourth and one in the
eighth.
UNA was out-hit 11 to
seven in the game.
With the loss, UNA is
now 7-6 overall, while
No. 2 ranked Southern
Arkansas improved to
12-3.
UNA starter Will Rankin
went seven innings,
allowing four runs on
eight hits. He falls to
0-3 on the season. Casey
Jones pitched one inning
in relief and allowed
three hits and one run.
Dan Bream (2-1) got the
win for Southern
Arkansas, pitching six
and one third innings
and allowing one run on
seven hits with eight
strikeouts.
UNA returns home to host
Delta State on Tuesday
and Wednesday at Mike
Lane Field.
