-- The University of North
Alabama split a
non-conference double-header
with Arkansas Tech Wednesday
night, taking the opener
11-1 before dropping the
nightcap 2-0. The games were
played at First Tennessee
Stadium on the campus of
Southwest Tennessee
Community College.
Drew Clark was the winner
for UNA in the opener,
hurling the Lions second
complete game of the season.
He allowed just one run on
five hits over seven innings
and had three strikeouts.
UNA got three runs in the
first, one in the fifth and
seven more in the sixth. UNA
out-hit Tech 11 to five.
Ross Parker, Chase Porch,
Josh Cyr and Nick McGregor
had two hits each for the
Lions.
Each team had just three
hits in the second game but
Tech managed to piece
together two runs for the
win. The Wonder Boys scored
a run in the second off UNA
starter Drake Gregory on two
walks and an RBI single. In
the fifth ATU's Chad Wynn
reached on an error,
advanced to third on a
sacrifice bunt and scored on
a sacrifice fly off UNA
reliever Kevin Henry.
The Lions open Gulf South
Conference play Saturday at
1 p.m. at Mike Lane Field
against West Georgia.
