BIRMINGHAM
– The University of North Alabama had a pair
of Top-5 showings in the final 2007-08 Gulf
South Conference all-sports trophy
standings. The UNA men finished in second
place, while the women were fourth.
Overall, the Lions sent seven of its 12
sports to NCAA post-season play. UNA also
had 10 teams qualify for GSC tournament
action.
Men’s teams went to GSC post-season play in
cross country, basketball, baseball, golf
and tennis. The Lion football team also tied
for second in the league. The UNA women made
GSC tournament appearances in cross country,
volleyball, basketball, softball and tennis.
Both the men and the women have taken home
GSC all-sports championships in the past.
The UNA men have won the honor five times,
while the women have captured six all-sports
titles. The last time the Lions won the
overall title was in the 1999-2000 season
when the men and women swept the honors.
