MONTEREY BAY,
Calif. -- The University of North
Alabama golf team continued its most
successful Spring season in school history
with a strong second place finish in a
14-school field at the Cal State University-
Monterey Bay Otter Invitational.
Led by Daniel
Creel and Wes Smith, the Lions had rounds of
301, 305 and 301 to finish 11 strokes behind
Washburn University. Following UNA in the
tournament field were CSU-San Bernardino
(909), CSU-Stanislaus (914), CSU-Monterey
Bay (921), Florida Gulf Coast (922), Notre
Dame de Namur (922), CSU- Chico (922),
Victoria-BC (925), Western Washington (031),
UC San Diego (937), West Texas A&M (952),
Concordia, Ore. (955) and St. Martin's
(960).
In five
tournaments this spring, the Lions have
posted two wins, two second place finishes
and a fifth place finish for a 72-6 overall
record.
Creel had
rounds of 72, 75 and 72 for a 219 total to
finish third overall. Creel was four strokes
behind Eric Justesen of CSU-Stanislaus.
Smith was seventh at 227.
The Lions will
compete in the Gulf South Conference
Championships on April 23-24 in Hot Springs,
Ark.
