UNA WINS SPRING CLASSIC BY 25 STROKES
MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala.
-- The University of North
Alabama had golfers finish first, second and
fourth overall and led the Lions to a
25-stroke victory in the 2008 UNA Spring
Classic at the Robert Trent Jones of the
Shoals Fighting Joe Course.
UNA had rounds
of 291 and 293 for a 584 total. Southwestern
Oklahoma State was second at 609, followed
by Delta State (611), Arkansas Tech (615),
Henderson State (617), Lincoln (627), West
Georgia (628), Ouachita Baptist (628), Drury
(640), Faulkner (640), Montevallo (652),
William Carey (654), Harding (662),
Christian Brothers (672) and Northwest
Shoals (700).
North Alabama's
Brett Munson took Medalist honors with a 142
total and was followed by teammate Daniel
Creel at 144. Lincoln's Rodolfo Gamino was
third at 147 and UNA's David Gies was fourth
at 148. Also on the all-tournament team
were Chase Smith of Delta State (149), B.J.
Hawkins of Arkansas Tech (149), Lourens
Kleynhans of Henderson State (149) and
Austin Smithers of Delta State (149).
