BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
-- University of North Alabama senior
running back Eric Packer of Pine Hill, Ala., has
been named the Gulf South Conference Offensive
Player of the Week for his efforts in the Lions'
45-3 win at West Alabama.
Packer, a Pine Hill, Ala.,
native, rushed 12 times for 113 yards and three
touchdowns against the Tigers, averaging over
nine yards per carry. He becomes the first
UNA player to receive GSC Player of the Week
honors this season.
Packer's performance
marked the first time this season that a UNA
player had rushed for more than 100 yards in a
game. He leads UNA in rushing this season with
506 yards on 85 carries and has scored seven
touchdowns North Alabama finished a perfect 10-0
regular-season and received a bye in the first
round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. UNA will
host the winner of the Albany State-Newberry
game at Braly Stadium at noon on November 25.
