-- A pair of University of football
standouts have received All-American
recognition for their performances during
the 2007 season.
UNA senior
safety Craig Fox of Kentwood, La., was
selected first-team All-American by the
American Football Coaches Association. UNA
senior offensive tackle J.D. Whited of
Oneonta, Ala., was selected third- team
All-American by the Associated Press.
The duo helped
lead UNA to a 10-2 record in 2007 that
included a spot in the quarterfinals of the
Division II playoffs.
Fox finished
second on the UNA team in tackles with 74
this season. He had 35 solos stops and 39
assists, with seven tackles for loss of 14
yards. He picked off three passes that he
returned for 196 yards and he returned a
fumble a school-record 99 yards for a score.
He becomes
UNA's 14th AFCA All-America pick since 1982.
The Lions have had a player selected for the
AFCA team in each of the last four straight
seasons.
