FLORENCE
-- After a week off for Spring break, the
University of North Alabama football team
returned to the practice field and held its
second scrimmage of the spring Thursday at
Braly Stadium.
Several
players missed the scrimmage, particularly
on the offensive side, and that was evident
according to UNA head coach Mark Hudspeth.
"The offense had two good drives early but
sort of fizzled out after that," he said.
"Give the defense credit, though. We
had a lot of guys flying around the ball."
UNA starting
quarterback A.J. Milwee did not take part in
the scrimmage, but Hudspeth he is expected
to begin workouts again next week in some
limited role. With Milwee out, Hudspeth said
Ret Tolleson had made major strides and was
challenging Dusty Goodwin for the back-up
quarterback role. Hudspeth said "It's not
that Dusty is doing anything wrong, Ret is
just having a really good spring."
The Lions will
practice April 10, 12 and 13 before holding
the Purple-White game at 1 p.m. on April 14
at Braly Stadium.
