-- Even though the University of North
Alabama football team fell short of its
ultimate goal in 2008 of winning an NCAA
Division II National Championship, the Lions
still enjoyed a record-breaking season.
The Lions set 27 school records, five Gulf
South Conference records and two NCAA
Division II national records this Fall.
Senior quarterback A.J. Milwee of Boaz set
10 individual records, including having the
lowest interception ratio in GSC history at
2.13. Milwee threw just 21 career
interceptions in 1,030 pass attempts,
breaking the mark of Scott Eyster of Delta
State. Senior kicker Tom
Schneider of Walnut Creek, Calif., broke
nine records, including the NCAA Division II
record for consecutive PATs made in a season
with 73.
As a team, the Lions broke numerous school
records including most points scored in a
season with 578, and average points scored
per game in a season at 41.3.
