FLORENCE
-
The University of North Alabama football
team went through a 125-play scrimmage at
Braly Stadium Saturday morning with the Lion
defenders not allowing a single touchdown.
The Lions, in their first game-type
scrimmage, saw the defense limit the UNA
offense to four field goals and few bright
spots.
“Defensively we were very physical and I
thought they gave a good effort,” UNA Head
Football Coach Hudspeth said. “The defense
executed well, didn’t give up any big plays
and kept the offense out of the end zone.”
The only scores of the day were field goals
from Kenny Spencer.
“Offensively we did a poor job of taking
care of the football,” Hudspeth said, after
watching the offense turn the ball over four
times. “We didn’t playa good tempo most of
the day and didn’t match the effort of the
defense.”
Hudspeth praised the defensive play of
corner back Chad Daniel, defensive linemen
Corey Orr and Montrell Craft and linebacker
Larry Wilson.
Hudspeth said that the quarterback play was
“not very sharp” and said the only bright
spot on offense was the line’s pass
protection.
