FLORENCE -- University of North Alabama senior punter Will Batson and senior offensive lineman Luke Chenault have been selected for the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV football team.

As a first-team Academic All-District pick, both will now advance to the ballot for possible selection to the Academic All-America team. Both teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A Killen, Ala., native, Batson has a 3.61 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) in Economics and Finance. He was an Academic All-Gulf South Conference selection in 2008, in addition to earning All-GSC, All-Super Region 2 and All-American honors as a punter last season. Batson is enjoying another banner season in 2009 as he ranks seventh nationally in the NCAA Division II in punting with a 41.3 average. He has been the Lions' starting punter for the last three years.

Chenault, a Moulton, Ala., native, is a five-year member of the UNA football program and has a cumulative 3.80 GPA in Accounting. He was an Academic All-GSC pick in 2007 and also received the team's Evan Oglesby Academic Award. This season, as UNA's starting right guard, he has helped clear the way for one of the nation's premier offenses. The Lions are averaging 42.3 points and 429 yards per game.
