FLORENCE
-- The University of North Alabama
signed 15 student-athletes to
National Letters of Intent on
Wednesday as part of the second
recruiting class under head coach
Terry Bowden. Those 15 signees are
in addition to three transfers that
are already enrolled at UNA and will
take part in the Lions’ 2010 Spring
drills when they begin Feb. 22.
UNA added seven high school signees
and eight transfers. Six of the
transfers are from junior colleges
and the other two are from four-year
schools. The signees give UNA eight
new players on the defensive side of
the ball and seven on offense.
UNA went 11-2 in its first season
under Bowden, winning the Gulf South
Conference championship and
advancing to the quarterfinals of
the NCAA Division II playoffs.
UNA will begin its spring football
drills on Feb. 22 and the Lions have
their spring game tentatively
scheduled for March 13.
