Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line /
Recruiting Coordinator Alan Arrington enters
his third season as an assistant football
coach at UNA and his first as offensive
coordinator. He will continue in his duties
as the offensive line coach and recruiting
coordinator at UNA. He previouslt spent 12
seasons as an assistant coach at Northwest
Mississippi Community College.
Last season he helped UNA to a 10-2 record
that included a spot in the quarterfinals in
the Division II playoffs.
The Lions averaged 37.5 points and more than
400 total yards per game and offensive
lineman J.D. Whited was chosen All-GSC,
All-Southeast Region and All-American.
UNA was 11-1 in 2006, won a Gulf South
Conference championship and a earned spot in
the quarterfinals of the Division II
playoffs. Center JoJo Bates earned All-GSC,
All-Southeast Region and All-America honors
and tackle Andrew Reid was also an All-GSC
and all-region pick.
Arrington began his coaching career as a
student assistant coach at Northwest
Mississippi and went on to a position as a
student assistant on the football staff at
Ole Miss under Billy Brewer.
Arrington returned to Northwest in 1994 as
the offensive line coach. While there he was
also athletic dorm supervisor and was the
school's head softball coach from 1998-2001.
In 2001 he was elevated to the position of
offensive coordinator at Northwest and held
that position through the 2005 season.
While at Northwest he helped lead the
Rangers to three Mississippi Junior College
State Championships and the school won 75
percent of its games (84-28).
In five of his seasons at Northwest the
Rangers ranked in the top six nationally in
total offense, including leading the nation
in 1999 and 2000.
Three times during his career (1995, 2002,
2004) he was selected for the MACIC North
All-Star coaching staff.
Northwest produced eight All-Americans and
two National Academic honorees during his
time there.
During his time as offensive coordinator,
the Rangers sent 11 players on to Division I
programs and nine to Division II programs. A
total of 12 of his offensive linemen moved
on to Division I programs during his tenure
at Northwest.
He is a native of Oxford, Miss., and is
married to the former Gail Perkins of
Batesville, Miss.
