NORTH ALABAMA SIXTH IN FINAL DIVISION II

WACO, TEX.–
For the fifth straight season and the 12th
time since 1980, the University of North
Alabama is ranked in the Top 10 of the
season-ending NCAA Division II football
poll. UNA finished the 2009 season, its
first with Terry Bowden as head coach, with
an 11-2 record and a No. 6 national ranking.
The Lions have not been ranked lower than
sixth in a final NCAA poll since 2004,
ranking fourth in 2005, sixth in 2006, sixth
in 2007 and third in 2008.
Northwest Missouri State finished the season
ranked No. 1 after defeating Grand Valley
State 30-23 in the National Championship
Game. Grand Valley State (Mich.), Central
Washington, Carson-Newman (Tenn.) and
Minnesota-Duluth round out the Top 5.
North Alabama has been ranked 11th or higher
in 55 straight Division II polls dating back
to December of 2005.
