MIKE KING
Assistant Coach
Punters and Kickers
Mike King will work with the Lion kickers
and punters for the 19th straight year in
2010.
Last season he worked with place-kicker
Kenny Spencer and punter Will Batson who
both earned first- team All-GSC and
first-team All-Super Region 2 honors. Batson
was also a consensus All-American pick.
In 2009 he worked with one of the most
impressive kicking tandems in NCAA Division
II history as both UNA place kicker Tom
Schneider and punter Will Batson earned
first-team All-American honors.
He has worked with the UNA kickers and
punters under Bobby Wallace, Bill Hyde, Mark
Hudspeth and now Terry Bowden.
King is the owner and operator of Shoals
Kicking Development, in which he conducts
camps and gives private and group lessons
around the Southeast. In all he has more
that 25 years of coaching experience. He is
also a teacher in the Madison City School
System, teaching history at Liberty Middle
School He also coaches tennis at Bob Jones
High School. He served as a graduate
assistant coach at the University of West
Alabama.
King lettered in football, baseball and
tennis at the collegiate level.
He graduated from Marion Institute in 1972
and the University of West Alabama in 1974.
He received a Master's degree in Education
from West Alabama and an Education
Administration degree from Troy State and
UNA.
King has two daughters, Allison (30) and
Susan (25).
