TWO
NORTH ALABAMA PLAYERS REWARDED FOR PLAY IN CENTRAL ARKANSAS
GAME
FLORENCE- A pair of University of North Alabama
players have been honored for their performance in the Lions
31-3 win over Central Arkansas last Saturday. UNA's
Randy Banks was named GSC Defensive Player of the Week after
recording a game-high 12 tackles, including six solo tackles.
Banks, a freshman from New Orleans, La., started in place of
an injured Donald Tharpe. He added a tackle for a loss of two
yards, forced and recovered one fumble and grabbed his
first-career interception returning it for four yards.
Anthony Merritt, a UNA sophomore from Box Springs, Ga., was
named GSC Special Teams Player of the Week. Merritt
returned four punts for 100 yards, including a 73-yard return
for a touchdown. His return came with four seconds left in the
third quarter and stretched the Lions lead to 24-3. It was
Merrit's second special teams return for a touchdown this
season. He also had a 98-yard kickoff return versus Harding
