LIONS PUT ON THE
PADS
FLORENCE --
The University of North
Alabama football team put on the pads for the first time this Spring
on Wednesday and head coach Mark Hudspeth said he was pleased with
the workout. "Overall, we would like to see better
concentration, and we're still having some missed assignments, but
it was a good day," he said. "We got to see a couple of our
new guys on defense and see how well they can tackle and how
physical they are. We also got a chance to begin evaluating our new
offensive linemen." After three days of practice, the Lions
will have a week off for Spring Break before returning for their
final 12 days of practice. "Hopefully we won't lose too much
retention with the week off, but whatever loses we have there we
should make up for with the players being re-charged and ready to
go," Hudspeth said. Defensively, Hudspeth said the Lions were
adapting well to new defensive coordinator Karl Morgan. "The
terminology is a little different with what we're doing now, but the
kids are excited about Coach Morgan and what he's doing. We just
need to bear-down on eliminating mistakes when we get back." The
Lions Spring practice ends on April 23 with the Purple and White
Scrimmage at Braly Stadium. |
