LIONS PROMINENT IN
NCAA FOOTBALL STATISTICS

-- Both the University of North Alabama Lions and their opponent for
this weekend,
the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils, are prominent in the first
NCAA Division II football statistics released Wednesday. UNA,
1-0 overall, is ranked second nationally in rushing defense (2.0),
13th in scoring defense (7.0), 13th in total offense (487.0), 27th
in passing offense (264.0) and 34th in rushing offense (223.0).
Individually, UNA quarterback Vinnie Saylor is 23rd in passing
efficiency (151.1), receiver Martin Huggins is 11th in scoring
(12.0), defensive back Evan Oglesby is sixth in passes defended
(3.0), linebacker Harold Wisdom is 11th in interceptions (1.0) and
Marcus Jackson and Lee Vickers are tied for 12th in sacks (1.5).
Arkansas-Monticello's high-powered offense is also ranked in several
categories. The Boll Weevils are fourth in passing offense with 354
yards per game and 11th in total offense at 488.5. UAM
quarterback Cory Allred is sixth in passing efficiency and sixth in
total offense, having completed 38 of 61 passes for 696 yards and
seven touchdowns. He is averaging 357 total yards per game.
