Football, 1954-56

A native of Haleyville, Ala., Hal Sisson was a three-year letterman in football for the Lions from 1954-56. He was chosen for NAIA Helms Foundation All-America honors in 1956 and played end, guard and tackle during his career with the Lions. He was selected as the team's Most Valuable Lineman in 1956 and was the first Lion lineman to be selected All-American.

Named to the First Forty Years UNA Football Team and the 50th Anniversary UNA Football Team, Sisson was also a member of the UNA Team of the Decade for 1949-58.   UNA posted a 21-8 record during his three years on the Lion football team and Sisson helped clear the way for three Lion All-American backs - Wendell Taylor, Brub Hamilton and Max Burleson.

He graduated from UNA in 1958 with a B.S. degree in Education and later  coached football and baseball at Huntsville High School. At the time of induction, Sisson was residing in Huntsville where he had been an insurance agent with State Farm for  34 years.
