Frost,
a
Sheffield, Ala., native was a four-year letterman and starter in baseball from
1958-61, and also lettered four years and started three years in basketball from 1957-58
and 1960-61. He helped take UNA to the NAIA National Championship Tournament in 1959-60.
He averaged 11.0 points per game as a senior, with 310 points in 28 games and added
140 rebounds for a 5.0 average per game.
In baseball he was selected as the team MVP
as a junior and was a steady performer throughout his four-year career with the Lions.
Following his career at UNA he coached at Applebee Junior High from 1961-66 and had
a 214-18 record. He was 253-180 as a coach at Bradshaw High School from 1966-84 and led
the Bruins to the 1976 Class 4A State Championship. He is currently in his fourth
term as the Mayor of Florence.
