Thrasher was a four-year letterman for the Lions and was a
member of two teams that advanced to the NAIA National Championship
Tournament (1959-1960 and 1961-1962).
He was a team captain in
1962-1963. and was selected for two Alabama Collegiate Conference
All-Conference teams (1960-1961, 1961-1962).
He was the team’s
second leading scorer in 1961-1962 and was the third leading scorer
in 1960-1961 and 1962-1963. He graduated in May 1964 with a
Biology/History major and Chemistry minor.
He later received a
Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification and worked his way from
Supervision of Chemistry and Research and Development at Birmingham
(AL) Hospital Princeton, to Chief Technologist, Children’s Hospital
(Birmingham, AL), to Laboratory Manager at Carraway Methodist Center
(Birmingham), Columbus Pathology Laboratory (Columbus, MS), and
Riley Memorial Hospital (Meridian, MS).
