FLORENCE
– Four players reached double digits in
scoring as the University of North Alabama
men’s basketball team picked up a big win in
Gulf South Conference play with an 89-60
rout over West Florida Monday evening at
Flowers Hall.
The Lions opened the game on a 16-4 run and
never let the Argonauts get close. After UNA
took a 45-28 lead into the locker room, the
Argos hit the first shot of the second half
to cut the lead to 15 points. That would be
as close as UWF got the rest of the game.
Quinn Beckwith hit seven three-point baskets
and finished with a game-high 25 points on
the night. Milton Nance was close behind
with 22 points, while Esmir Guzonjic had 16
and Toby Gamble 13 for the Lions.
The win puts UNA above the .500 mark for the
season at 10-9, and gives the Lions a 3-1
mark in GSC play. UWF falls to 8-7, 1-2.
The Lions will take on West Georgia next
Saturday in a key GSC road showdown. Tip-off
is set for 7:00 p.m. in Carrollton, Ga.
