CARROLLTON, Ga.,
– Four West Georgia players reached double
digits in scoring as the Wolves ended North
Alabama’s two-game winning streak in Gulf
South Conference play Saturday evening in
Carrollton, Ga.
In a game that featured 10 ties and 19 lead
changes, West Georgia took the lead for good
in the final two minutes. A jumper by
Michael Lytle put the Wolves on top 72-71
with 1:07 remaining, and UWG got a layup and
hit its final eight free throws to secure
the win.
The Lions’ Esmir Guzonjic led all scorers
with 22 points, and added 11 rebounds to
record the double-double performance. Milton
Nance also had 18 points for UNA, which
falls to 8-9 overall with a 2-3 mark in the
GSC.
UNA will face Alabama-Huntsville next
Saturday on the road in another key GSC
match-up. The two teams will tip-off at 7
p.m. at Spragins Hall.
