-- The University of North Alabama men's
basketball team opened a crucial four- game
Gulf South Conference home-stand with a
109-85 rout of West Alabama at Flowers Hall.
UNA improved to
13-11 overall with the win and to 6-3 in the
GSC East Division. West Alabama is now 9-13
and 3-5.
The game was
never close as UNA rolled to a huge lead in
the early going and led by 23 points and
55-32 at the half. In the second half, UNA
pushed its lead to 38 before a brief West
Alabama rally cut the lead to 18.
North Alabama
dominated the board, outrebounding West
Alabama 52-26, with Esmir Guzonjic leading
the way with 14.
Milton Nance led the Lions in scoring with
31 points, while Guzonjic had 20 and Quinn
Beckwith added 18.
UNA made 10 of
21 three-point baskets in the game and shot
55.6 percent from the floor.
The Lions host
GSC East leader Montevallo on Monday night
at 8 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
