FIVE LIONS REACHED DOUBLE FIGURES IN 83-66 WIN
MORROW, Ga., – Five players
reached double digits in scoring as the University of North Alabama
men’s basketball team picked up a big road win with an 83-66 victory
over Clayton State Saturday evening.
Kenny Johnson
turned in a career-high 25 points as the Lions broke a two-game
losing streak and improved to 8-4 on the year. The loss drops the
Lakers to 4-4 on the season.
UNA led by as
many as nine points in the opening 20 minutes before Clayton State
used a 12-1 run to enter the locker room with a 38-37 lead. In the
second half, the Lions began a 16-6 run at the 12 minute mark to
take control of the game. A 51-51 tie became a double-digit lead for
UNA and the Lakers never got closer than eight points the rest of
the way.
Isaac Gay also
had a solid night with 21 points for the Lions. Thomas Fraise added
13 for the game, while Andrew Chesney and Casey Holt recorded 11
points to round out the top scorers.
UNA will
continue its road trip with an away game at Lynn University on Dec.
17. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
