FLORENCE -- North Alabama saw four players finish in
double-figures and 10 different players scored as the Lions routed
West Alabama 87-66 in a Gulf South Conference contest at Flowers
Hall.
UNA built an early
lead behind blazing three-point shooting from Quinn Beckwith and
Thomas Fraise, who combined to hit eight three-pointers in the first
half. The Lions led 45-29 at intermission and extended their lead in
the second half behind a host of offensive weapons.
Beckwith led UNA
with 22 point as he hit three-pointers. He added seven rebounds and
four assists. Fraise finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds,
followed by Isaac Gay with 11 points and Casey Holt with 10.
The win improves
UNA's record to 15-6 overall and 3-1 in the GSC. It was the Lions
seventh straight win over the Tigers in Florence.
West Alabama,
5-11, 0-3, was led by Cavin Payton with 16 and Kevin Johnson with
11.
UNA held a 47-40
rebounding edge and made 13 three-point baskets to just seven for
the Tigers.
North Alabama
hosts Alabama-Huntsville on January 26 at Flowers Hall.
