CARROLLTON, Ga., – Thomas Fraise had 21 points and four
other North Alabama players reached double digits in scoring as the
Lions picked up a key Gulf South Conference road victory with a
101-88 win over West Georgia Tuesday evening.
The win helps UNA
keep pace at third place in the GSC East Division with a 4-2 league
record. The first conference loss of the season drops the Wolves’
into a tie for first place with a 4-1 GSC mark.
On Tuesday, the
Lions raced out to an early lead and held off a late charge by UWG.
UNA built an 18-point lead (34-16) with 8:32
remaining in the first half and took a 50-42 lead into the locker
room. In the second half, West Georgia was able to close the gap,
eventually tying the game at 75-75 at the 7:00 mark. The Wolves,
however, were never able to take the lead.
Quinn Beckwith
added 17 points for the Lions. UNA (16-7) will host Concordia on
Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. before returning to GSC play the following Saturday
at Montevallo.
