FLORENCE -- A pair of
three-point baskets by Quinn Beckwith and a layup from Casey Holt
broke open a four-point game in the second half and led North
Alabama to an 83-63 win over Concordia-Selma at Flowers Hall.
UNA
led 30-27 at the half but built the lead to 10 early in the second
half. Concordia rallied to cut the lead to four but three straight
UNA baskets put the game out of reach for the Hornets.
Holt
led UNA with 31 points and 11 rebounds. It was his fifth 30-plus
point game of the season and his seventh double-double of the year.
He also pushed his career scoring total to 1,034 points, tying Joe
Edwards for 18th in UNA history.
With
the win, UNA is now 17-7 overall. Concordia falls to 10-11.
Quinn
Beckwith added 13 points for UNA and Andrew Chesney had 10. Deonte
Williams led four Concordia players in double figures with 12.
Rodrice Griffin and Ronald Cooper had 11 each and Lewis Lee had 10.
UNA
held a 51-38 rebounding advantage but the Lions committed 25
turnovers and made just 10 of 21 free throw attempts. UNA made nine
three-point baskets to just three for Concordia.
