National Association of Basketball Coaches
Announces
2008 Division II All-District Teams and
Coaches
KANSAS CITY, MO. --
The National Association of Basketball
Coaches (NABC) has selected University of
North Alabama men's basketball coach Bobby
Champagne as the South Region Coach of the
Year and named UNA senior forward Casey Holt
to the All-South Region team.
Selected and voted on by member coaches of
the NABC, these student-athletes represent
the finest basketball players across
America. The student-athletes, from eight
districts, are now eligible for the State
Farm Division II All-America teams, selected
by the NABC.
Holt, from Culleoka, Tenn., has helped lead
UNA to a 27-8 record this season and into
the Division II Elite Eight Wednesday. He
has averaged 17.9 points and 8.6 rebounds
this season and has added 81 assists and a
team-high 32 blocked shots.
Champagne, in his fifth season as head coach
at UNA, has led the Lions to the NCAA
Tournament for the second time in the last
three years. He has an 86-63 record as a
head coach and led UNA to its first region
title since 1996.
