AT ALABAMA MONDAY
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The
University of North Alabama men's basketball team made a run at
Indiana in the second half but the Hoosiers were too powerful down
the stretch as the Lions dropped a 121-76 exhibition game in front
of 17,109 fans at Assembly Hall.
Indiana
freshmen Jordan Crawford and Eric Gordon combined for 54 point to
lead the ninth ranked Hoosiers.
Indiana started
slow in the second half, and when UNA's Isaac Gay hit a
three-pointer with 15:35 left in the game, the Hoosier lead was cut
to 64-50. A Crawford three-pointer started an 18-6 run over a
three-minute span and the Hoosiers never looked back
UNA trailed
55-39 at the half but was outscored 66-37 in the second half.
Overall, six
players scored in double figures as IU shot 60.0 percent from the
floor and 54.5 percent from three point range.
Casey Holt led
UNA with 19 points. Gay had 17 and Quinn Beckwith 12. UNA was just
28 of 75 from the floor for 37 percent and made eight of 30
three-point attempts. Beckwith led UNA with six rebounds and Andrew
Chesney added five.
Crawford scored
30 and knocked down 10 of 11 shots, including all six of his
three-point attempts. He also added five rebounds and three assists.
Gordon, who chipped in 24, made 10 of 16 from the floor and hit two
long distance shots
Indiana's Armon
Bassett scored 18 points and had five assists, senior D.J. White
added 13 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three blocks.
As a team,
Indiana outrebounded North Alabama, 48-34, and had 24 assists, eight
blocks and 13 steals.
