 MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM GETS FIRST SIGNEE

FLORENCE – University of North Alabama head men’s basketball coach Bobby Champagne has announced the addition of 6-6 power forward Thomas Fraise to the team, representing the first signee of the 2007-08 recruiting class.

The junior comes to UNA after serving four years in the US Army. The New Orleans, La., native began his college career at Pearl River Community College in Miss. Following Hurricane Katrina, he relocated to Lincoln Trail College where he played under coach Junsie Cotten.

In his one season for the Statesmen, Fraise averaged 16 points and nine rebounds while shooting 63 percent from the field and 33 percent from the three-point line. He led his team to its first regional title since 2003. For his efforts, Fraise was named to the Region XXIV all-region team as well as the regional all- tournament team.  He was also named to the All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference Team.

Fraise plans to major in sociology with a minor in criminal justice.
