– North Alabama center Thomas Fraise
picked up his second Gulf South Conference
East Division Player-of-the-Week award
Wednesday after helping the Lions open GSC
play with a 1-1 record over the weekend.
Fraise, a 6-6, 300-pound junior, averaged
23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds on UNA’s road
swing through West Florida and Valdosta
State.
Fraise shot
51.4 percent from the field and also hit
53.8 percent from beyond the arc. The New
Orleans, La., native began the week, posting
his third double-double of the season behind
a season-high 27 points along with 10
rebounds in 31 minutes of an 80-77 win over
the Argonauts. He capped the week with
another near double-double effort, leading
the Lions in scoring (20) and rebounding
(nine) in a 92-86 overtime loss at Valdosta
State.
The conference
honor is the second for Fraise this year and
fifth for the Lions as a team. Casey Holt
took home the first two weekly awards on
Nov. 20 and 28.
Kenny Johnson
was also an honoree on Dec. 19, while
Fraise’s other weekly honor came on Dec. 12.
