BIRMINGHAM – North Alabama center Thomas Fraise picked up his second Gulf South Conference East Division Player-of-the-Week award Wednesday after helping the Lions open GSC play with a 1-1 record over the weekend. Fraise, a 6-6, 300-pound junior, averaged 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds on UNA’s road swing through West Florida and Valdosta State.

Fraise shot 51.4 percent from the field and also hit 53.8 percent from beyond the arc. The New Orleans, La., native began the week, posting his third double-double of the season behind a season-high 27 points along with 10 rebounds in 31 minutes of an 80-77 win over the Argonauts. He capped the week with another near double-double effort, leading the Lions in scoring (20) and rebounding (nine) in a 92-86 overtime loss at Valdosta State.

The conference honor is the second for Fraise this year and fifth for the Lions as a team. Casey Holt took home the first two weekly awards on Nov. 20 and 28.

Kenny Johnson was also an honoree on Dec. 19, while Fraise’s other weekly honor came on Dec. 12.
