BIRMINGHAM – For the
third time this season, officials with the Gulf South Conference
have named North Alabama guard Casey Holt as the East Division’s
Player of the Week.
The award
follows a big weekend for the senior, who led the Lions to an 83-63
home win over Concordia-Selma last Saturday. After scoring a
game-high 31 points and pulling down 11 rebounds, the Culleoka,
Tenn., native went over 1,000 points for his career. His career
total now stands at 1,034, tying Joe Edwards for 18th in UNA
history.
Against
Concordia, Holt also shot 76 percent from the floor and 75 percent
from three-point range. His 31 points tied a career-high and marked
the fifth time this season he scored at least 30 points in a game.
Holt won the
GSC weekly award the first two weeks over the reporting season on
Nov. 20 and Nov. 28. UNA has had a player win the honor a
league-high six times this season with Thomas Fraise taking home the
award on Dec. 12 and Jan. 16 and Kenny Johnson winning it on Dec.
