- Scotty Hopson led seven Tennessee
players in double digits as Division I’s
10th-ranked Volunteers pulled
away from North Alabama for a 117-79
victory in NCAA men's exhibition
basketball action Friday evening at
Thompson-Boling Arena on the
UT campus. Tennessee led 58-41 at the
break and held a 19-point advantage with
17:51 remaining before a 16-4 run put
the game out of reach.
Jared Strode led UNA with 20 points on
the night. The senior transfer from
Northwest Shoals Community College was
7-of-20 from the field and added six
free throws.
Daviel Clements added 17 points for the
Lions while Eric Wormely tossed in 11
points on the night.
Tennessee did most of its damage on the
boards. The Vols out-rebounding UNA
46-30, including 15 on offense. Eddie
Lima led the Lions with six rebounds in
the game.
UNA now turns its attention to its Nov.
15 season opener when it hosts defending
South Region champion Christian
Brothers. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at
Flowers Hall.
