HUNTSVILLE – Alabama-Huntsville’s Josh Magette scored a team-high 16 points, including a pair of clutch three-point baskets in the final two minutes to lead the Chargers to an 87-78 victory over North Alabama Saturday evening in Gulf South Conference men’s basketball action. The home win gives UAH a 13-4 overall record with a perfect 2-0 mark in GSC play. UNA drops its second straight road conference game to fall to 8-9 overall and 1-3 in the league.

UAH had possession and a 76-74 lead when Magette made his first big basket. With the shot clock winding down, is long-range shot from the left side of the court put the Chargers on top 79-74 with 1:50 remaining. Following a missed shot by the Lions, Magette connected on another three-pointer at the 1:14 mark and UNA was never able to recover.

Daviel Clements led the Lions with 25 points on the night. Rory Miller added 22 points and seven rebounds while Jared Strode tossed in 13 points for UNA.

North Alabama will travel to Pensacola, Fla., for its next road GSC match-up on Jan. 20. The Lions will take on West Florida Wednesday with tip-off set for 7 p.m. at the UWF Field House.
