NO. 8 FALCONS TOO MUCH FOR UNA (BOX SCORE)

MONTEVALLO – A second-half surge by the eighth-ranked Montevallo Falcons was enough to turn a 10-point halftime lead into an 81-63 home victory over North Alabama Saturday night in Gulf South Conference action.

Trailing 41-31 at intermission, UNA was able to cut the deficit to nine with 14:57 remaining. A three-pointer by Reprobatus Bibbs made the score 50-41. Montevallo, however, quickly answered and never allowed the Lions to get the lead under single-digits again.

Three UM players reached double-digits in scoring with James Hall leading the way on a 23-point effort. A.J. Gordon led the Lions with 23 points while Javier Palacios score 12 of his 16 points in the second half.

The loss keeps UNA winless in its last five games and gives the team in an 0-1 start to conference play. It was also the Lions first defeat this season at the hands of a ranked opponent after knocking off a pair of Top-15 squads earlier in the season.

UNA will again be seeking its first conference win on the road Monday night when the team travels to Livingston to face West Alabama. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
