MILES COLLEGE GIVES UNA FIRST LOSS (BOX SCORE)

HUNTSVILLE -- Miles College overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half and handed North Alabama its first loss of the season with an 81-76 win over the Lions in the GSC/SIAC Crossover Classic at Spragins Hall.

UNA, now 4-1 overall, led 38-35 at the half and pushed the lead to nine at 60-51 with 8:47 left in the game on a basket by A.J. Gordon. Miles got three three-point baskets from Darrius King to help close the gap and the Bears were able to ice the game at the free throw line in the closing minutes. UNA was just 13 of 24 from the free throw line.

Gordon led UNA with 21 points, while Luke Copeland and Javier Palacios added 14 each.  Miles, 2-1, was led by Joseph King with 21 points.  UNA plays LeMoyne-Owen on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the second day of the Classic.
