TWO LIONS EARN ALL-GSC HONORS
BIRMINGHAM
– Officials with the Gulf South Conference have announced that the
University of North Alabama has placed a pair of athletes on the
2005 men’s and women’s All-GSC list.
Reprobatus Bibbs and Lauren Qualls each
received second team honors in the GSC East Division.
Bibbs, a 5-11 guard from Courtland, Ala., was
selected after averaging 14.4 points, 1.5 steals and 4.1 rebounds
per game for the Lions this season. The junior was known for hitting
several game-winning shots in the closing seconds during UNA’s 14-14
campaign. His jumper in the lane as time expired gave the Lions a
64-62 victory over 14th-ranked Kentucky Wesleyan on Nov. 22nd. He
also added buzzer-beating shots that knocked off Delta State (73-71
on Nov. 29th) and West Florida (62-60 on Jan. 17th).
Bibbs reached the 30-point mark on two
occasions this year, including a 103-101 road win over Division II
power Columbus State on Dec. 1st and a 93-99 overtime loss to UAH on
Feb. 26th at home. He led the Lions in scoring nine times on the
year and was the team’s top rebounder three times.
Qualls, a 5-9 guard from Savannah, Tenn., led
the Lions in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game. The junior
also turned in 1.7 steals, 4.5 rebounds and 33.4 minutes each
outing. Qualls was the only player to average double digits in
scoring as the team compiled a 6-21 overall record.
She led the Lions in scoring in 19 of the
team’s 27 contests, including a 29-point showing on Nov. 20th on the
road against Henderson State. For the season, Qualls surpassed the
20-point margin a team-high seven times.
