UNA’S GORDON NAMED GSC EAST
PLAYER OF THE WEEK

– League officials with the Gulf South Conference announced Tuesday
that University of North Alabama’s A.J. Gordon was named the GSC
East Division’s Player of the Week.
Gordon, a 6-5 forward from Aiken, S.C.,
averaged 21.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in three road games as the
Lions went 2-1 last week. The junior also shot 60 percent from the
field (24-of-40) and 68 percent from the charity stripe (17-of-25)
while averaging 28.3 minutes per game.
Gordon poured in 21 points and added six
rebounds in 21 minutes during an 81-76 loss to Miles on Nov. 26th in
Huntsville. He followed with a 24-point performance in a 71-63
triumph over LeMoyne-Owen the following night.
He capped the week with 20 points in a 73-71
overtime win at Delta State. His free throw with 27 seconds
remaining to tie the score at 61-61 and forced the extra period.
The conference award is the first for Gordon
and represents UNA’s first player of the week honor in basketball
this season.
