Off to 3-0-1 Start
FLORENCE -- Junior Alison Woodman
scored two goals over a 17-minute span of
the second half to help lift the University
of North Alabama women's soccer team to a
3-1 win over Lipscomb University at North
Florence
Park.
The Lions win over the Division I Lady Bison
improves UNA's record to 3-0-1 overall
entering a big in-region game against
nationally ranked Saint Leo on Sunday in
Birmingham. UNA, ranked 10th in the Division
II South Region, fell behind nine minutes
into the second half when Lipscomb's Sarah
Brummett scored off a corner kick from Sara
Green.
Just four four minutes later, at the 58:36
mark, Woodman scored her first goal of the
season from thirty yards
out after a foul.
Woodman scored again at the 75:50 mark on a
penalty kick to give UNA a 2-1 advantage.
The Lions final goal came off the foot of
Allison Post at 80:52 on a ball that was
knocked around in front of the goal before
Post sent it into the net.
UNA out-shot Lipscomb 20-6 and the Lions had
10 shots on goal. UNA's Mally Cash, who has
allowed just two goals in 360 minutes in
goal this season, recorded five saves.
Lipscomb's Katie Shelton had three saves.
