Lions Lose to Third Ranked Saint Leo 1-0
MONTEVALLO, Ala.
-- North Alabama gave up just one first half
goal but it was enough for Saint Leo to hold
off the Lions for a 1-0 win over UNA in a
matchup of two of the top ranked South
Region women's soccer teams.
UNA, ranked
10th in the South Region, allowed just its
third goal of the season in five matches and
trailed 1-0 at the half to third ranked
Saint Leo. The Lions played Saint Leo even
over the final 45 minutes but couldn't get a
tying goal of their own.
With the loss, UNA falls to 3-1-1, while
Saint Leo improved to 3-0-1.
"We didn't
create many scoring chances for ourselves,"
said UNA Coach Graham Winkworth. "The
chances we did have, we didn't get good
shots off, and they had a good goalkeeper as
well."
