MEMPHIS, Tenn.
-- The University of North Alabama women's
soccer team held a 2-1 lead with just over
10 minutes to play but Christian Brothers
ralied for a goal and earned a 2-2 tie with
the Lions in Gulf South Conference action.
With the tie,
UNA is now 6-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the
GSC. Christian Brothers is 6-3-1 and 1-0-1.
UNA took the
early lead, just 10:23 into the contest, as
Tassia Augusto scored her 14th goal of the
season to give the Lions a 1-0 advantage.
Christian Brothers tied it at the 27:14 mark
as Courtney Robertson netted a goal. UNA
quickly answered as Claire Bennett scored at
29:22 and the Lions carried that lead into
the half.
The lead held
up until 79:52 when Nicole Evans tied the
game for CBU.
Christian
Brothers outshot UNA 24-16 and Carly Rhodes
recorded eight saves in goal for the Lions.
UNA plays at
West Georgia on Sunday, Oct. 7.
Augusto, a
sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, is now
within one goal of the school single-season
record of 15 by Emily Cotham in 2004. She is
also three points shy of Cotham's school
mark of 38 in 2004.
