-- The University of North Alabama women's
soccer team couldn't muster any offense on
Sunday and came out on the short end of a
5-0 Gulf South Conference lost to West
Georgia.
The loss drops
UNA to 6-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the GSC.
West Georgia
outshot UNA 23-14 mark and only allowed one
shot of on goal in the entire match.
The two teams
played to a dead heat for the first 22
minutes of the contest, with things shaping
up as a defensive struggle. At the 22:02
mark West Georgia's Erica Harvey's headed a
ball into the goal for a 1-0 lead for the
Wolves.
West Georgia
followed with two more first half goals and
led 3-0 at intermission. Additional goals in
the 66th and 82nd minutes pushed the final
margin to 5-0.
UNA's Carl
Rhodes recorded four saves.
The Lions play
at Harding on October 12 and return home to
Ouachita Baptist on October 14.
